Injectable Fillers

Not everyone is ready for cosmetic surgery. This is where fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, and Radiesse are perfect. By reducing the signs of aging in a matter of minutes, injectable fillers can literally be that “lunchtime” pick-me-up that most of us can use. Dr. Dadvand is an expert in injectable fillers. Dr. Dadvand will develop a tailored plan for you and personally performs all of the injections himself. Dr. Dadvand was a participant in the Juvederm JET trial and has published a peer-review article on the topic of injectable fillers.

About Juvederm

Juvederm is a highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid based filler that is used to reduce wrinkles and folds in the face. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in our skin, joints, and connective tissue. The most common indication for Juvederm is the reduction of smile lines or nasolabial fold. Juvederm is also used in achieving fuller lips and repairing tear trough deformities, the groove that forms between the lower eyelid and the upper inner cheek. Dr. Dadvand is an expert in injecting Juvederm and was a participant in the JET TRIAL that compared the effects of Juvederm with another dermal filler.

Juvederm is injected in the mid dermis of the skin. The main function is to add volume to areas where wrinkles or folds have developed. The injection is performed in the office and topical numbing cream is all that is needed. The procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes to perform and the results are immediate.

Frequently Asked Questions About Juvederm

What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in all mammals that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.

What is cross-linked hyaluronic acid?
“Uncross-linked” hyaluronic acid in its natural form is in a liquid state. “Cross-linking” is the process through which hyaluronic acid is made into a gel product that can be injected into the skin for long-lasting results.

How long do results last?
JUVÉDERM® is the ONLY hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to 1 year when used to reduce smile lines. When Injected in the lips results typically last between 3-5 months.

What are the possible side effects of JUVÉDERM® injectable gel?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.

Can people with different skin tones/colors be treated with JUVÉDERM®?
Yes. In fact, Juvéderm® injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has proven safe for persons of color. Juvéderm® showed no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring in patients of color.
