Changing Female Breast Shape: Breast Lift With Implants
Posted on Monday, June 17th, 2024 by Dr. Babak Dadvand
I’m thrilled to share an exciting case with you involving a breast lift surgery combined with implants, technically known as mastopexy augmentation. This surgery addressed sagging and volume loss in the breasts, a common issue many women face after pregnancy, weight loss, or breastfeeding.
Our patient is a Beverly Hills mom of two who breastfed both children. Her primary concerns were droopiness and deflation in the upper part of her breasts. This deflation is a frequent result of the physical changes occurring during and after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Simply performing a breast lift wouldn’t address the deflation, which is where the implants come in.
Mastopexy Augmentation: The Surgical Process
Before starting the surgery, I meticulously planned and marked the areas on the patient’s breasts. The right breast was larger and sat lower than the left, a typical asymmetry that needed correction. Additionally, the patient’s nipples were positioned lower than ideal, requiring us to lift and reposition them.
Creating the Perfect Pocket for the Implant
The first step involved making a small incision to create a pocket under the muscle to house the implant. I used temporary implants, known as sizers, to determine the best size and shape for the final implants. By inflating the sizers, I could assess the upper pole fullness and ensure a natural-looking result.
Addressing Droopiness
After placing the sizers, I sat the patient up to observe how her breasts looked in a natural position. She still had significant droopiness even with the sizers in place. This confirmed the need for a lift to tighten the breast tissue and reposition the nipple.
Tailoring the Skin and Tissue
Next, I tailored the skin and tissue. I removed more tissue on the larger right side to achieve symmetry. This process involved temporary staples to help visualize the final shape and ensure both breasts matched in size and contour. Once satisfied with the adjustments, I removed the extra skin and tissue.
Finalizing the Breast Lift With Implants
The final step involved the insertion of permanent silicone implants. I used a no-touch technique with a Keller Funnell device, which minimizes contamination risk. On the larger side, I used a 175cc implant, and a 210cc implant on the smaller side to balance the breast sizes.
Stunning Results!
After completing the surgery, the results were immediately apparent. The breasts sat higher and had a beautiful, natural contour. The upper pole provided the desired fullness and the centered areolas ensured a rejuvenated and youthful appearance.
The incisions were hidden under the breast, ensuring minimal visible scarring. Over the next few months, the implants will settle into their pockets, and the overall breast shape will continue to improve.
Mastopexy Augmentation Can Address Multiple Breast Shape Concerns
This combination of a breast lift with implants addresses multiple concerns in one procedure—sagging, volume loss, and asymmetry. Our patient can look forward to a fantastic recovery and renewed confidence in her appearance.
