Gynecomastia comes in all shapes and sizes. One form of gynecomastia that is relatively common is referred to as \u201cpuffy nipples\u201d. Every male chest is composed of skin, subcutaneous fat, breast tissue, and muscle. Males with puffy nipples have an increased amount of breast tissue centered underneath their areolas. The breast tissue pushes out against the areola making it look puffy.<\/p>\n
The diagram above shows a normal chest compared with a chest with puffy nipple. Notice the increase in breast tissue (pictured in white) underneath the nipple. This pushes out on the areola giving it a more cone like or puffy appearance. This is more evident in warmer weather. Correcting \u201cpuffy nipples\u201d will require excision of the breast tissue.
